Functions of the Archdiocese Health Department
- Develops and promotes Archdiocesan health policy in line with the national health policy.
- Develops and reviews Archdiocesan health plans, project, and programs.
- Facilitates and supports the development of plans and budgets by Archdiocesan health facilities and training institutions.
- Recruits, selects, and appraises senior staff of the Archdiocesan health facilities and training institutions.
- Initiates and executes human resource development plans for the Archdiocesan health department and its health facilities and training institutions.
- Ensures the development, documentation, and implementation of effective operational systems for Archdiocesan health facilities and training institutions with active participation of the respective health facilities and training institutions.
- Ensures that the high quality of training in the nursing school is in accordance with the standards stipulated by the Tanzania government.
- Initiates and executes capital expenditure projects in the Archdiocesan health facilities and training institutions in consultation with and cooperation of the respective institutions.
- Procures medical supplies and equipment on behalf of Archdiocese health facilities.
- Mobilizes resources for the Archdiocese and its health institutions and the programs.
- Cooperates with the Archdiocesan health facilities to promote self sustainability.
- Collaborates with the central government, local government, and other stake holders in improving the quality of life of the residents of the Mwanza Archdiocese in particular and Tanzania in general through an improved healthcare delivery system.
- Monitors and evaluates the performances of the Archdiocesan Health Department and its health facilities and training institutions.
- Submits feedback to the health department and its respective health facilities and training institutions
