Bukumbi Nurses & Midwives Training Centre

Bukumbi Nurses & Midwives Training Centre is located in the Southern portion of the Mwanza Region, 32 km from Mwanza City. The school was established by in 1964 by White Sisters from the Netherlands. The school operates under the auspices of Archdiocese of Mwanza, and the Executive Secretary of the Health Department coordinates the school’s operations.
As of 2007, the school offers a two-year training course.
The school is registered by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and also by NACTE by registration number S/N0064 (Established by the Act Number of 1997).
Mission
We empower educationally disadvantaged community of Tanzania to become Nurses and Midwives who will effectively be able to eradicate the three major enemies to our country, which are; Illiteracy, Poverty and Diseases through excellent oriented nursing training and promote science at all levels of health care to individual, family and community members.
Vision
Bukumbi Nurses & Midwives Training Centre to be the leading school of Nursing in Tanzania, in providing quality and cost effective training of nurses and midwives who adhere to ethics and etiquette of nursing with inspiration by compassion of the Holy Spirit.
Goal
Produce graduates who are competent and efficient in provision of quality health care to the family of God based on a client centred approach and holistically.

School Objectives
- To train health service workers who can work in any health care setting in the community.
- To improve the manpower of Bukunbi hospital so as to enhance conducive teaching – running process.
- To participate in PHC/CBHC Programmes in the villages, within Misungwi district to promote and sustain the health of the community in general.
Facilities
The school’s facilities include:
- Two classrooms which can accommodate about 40 students each with chalk boards
- One demonstration room with two beds and mattresses where students /teachers perform demonstration of various skills.
- Dining hall and kitchen
- Library.
- Twelve rooms serving as dormitories for female students
- Computer bank used to teach basic computer application skills
